I'm back after many months of not posting here or even coming by much. Lets just say the season has been busy. All the rain over the winter, spring and early summer meant bumper crops of just about everything we planted. Did lose some of our early taters because of too wet ground. the alliums went nuts this year and we have gigantic onions, garlic and leeks. picked 26.6 gallons of raspberries from about 300 square feet of Latham raspberries in July (that was an intense 3 to 5 hours a day harvest that went on for 3 to 4 weeks) and sold pretty much 100% of 'em.
The tomatoes have not been the best but have been getting nice ones since the 4th of July (had around 30 plants in a hoop house that yielded early). Did 100 pepper plants in a hoop house and they worked very well. this is good because the outdoor peppers despite (or perhaps in spite of) being under row cover until 3 weeks ago have just started setting fruit. usually we are harvesting green peppers by mid august but it looks like we won't have any greenies from them for another 3 to 4 weeks.
farmers markets have been very profitable this season. So the farm is doing well but us farmers need a vacation.

Nice to see you back, OhioOrganic! The raspberries sound like they were real winners. Congrats on that.

I am very glad for you my friend. You're lucky the rain stopped. Here, strawberries and raspberries went watery and tasteless, lots of mildew in most crops, we are just starting to have heat and sun and it is almost september... take a break, you deserve it...

Glad to hear from you again buddy! Verry hapy to see that your farm has done well for you this year. Ours didn't quite live up to my standards, but that has more to do with my own mistakes probably than anything else. I know that I am really looking forward to spring 2009.
