You need to know the persons real name or email addy to add them to your friends list. FB then sends them a notice asking if they would like to be your friend. If not, I believe they are blocked from seeing your profile.
I have Canada Mike as a friend, but he's too busy posting on here to do anything on FB, LOL
I also tried joining a couple of gardening groups on FB, but I've been disappointed in any and all of them.

I'm on facebook, but don't check it all that often. I'm still not sure if I like it. Too many people crawling out of the woodwork, that I didn't like then, so why would I like them now?? Mainly joined cause my sister bugged me to do it. Same reason I started blogging. My sister is bossy. And she's younger than me. But she lives in Europe, so it's a nice way to keep in touch and to know what each other's got going on.

I have been a member for under a month and have connected with at least 10 people I had lost touch with years ago. I see on FB lots of people I went to High School with who I do not like and will not become "friends" with if they ask. Most of my FB Freinds are good friends in real life that i see at least a couple of times a year if not a lot more often. Now that we are all connected on FB we not mention this fact when we see each other which is a bit weird.
I can see this site can be a major time waster which may be good this winter when I am bored to tears and have little to do.
I'm Lucy Owsley-Goodman if anyone wants to become my friend.

I found one of my closest friends from Jr High and H.S. that I had lost contact with 30+ years ago. She is being treated for cancer. Without FB I would never have known where to look for her. She is 1800 miles away and has been for 20 years now apparently. But it brought us together again and now we email many times during the week and phone when emails just aren't enough.
I'm on dialup and many of the applications on FB don't work for me. Or they lock my puter up for too long so I don't bother with them. I just check the daily updates and notifications.

Well I don't have a facebook but do have a myspace. Mostly for the business and also music connections. www.myspace.com/bishopshomegrownKim is also on my friends list.
