www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24308745-30417,00.html And the most relevant qoute of the whole ordeal: "Both of them, the lay person doesn't understand them. It is easy to sow doubts and fears in people." When refering to nuclear power and genetically modified crops. That's just a step shy of calling an organic farmer ignorant to the facts. It's just like the rest of the rape of culture and of the natural world that has been seen in the past 150 years. Everyone looks at those of us who live the life of farming and survival as "ignorant" despite our great successes using traditional technology and methods and yet when the bridges crumble down who do they turn to?

When you give a person a PH.d, a lab and a lab coat there is no end to the arrogance of that person. The scientists who say we are scared simply because we do not understand the science behind GMO's etc.. never take time to explain to us ignorant people why this stuff is good and safe. They just want us to assume they know better than us, that they are essentially gods and we the little ignorant people should never question their science because their science is NEVER wrong (except when it is wrong such as with GMO crops which is based on a wrong assumption about genetics which was disproved about 12 years ago but the gene jockeys continue to use the old unsafe science to do their work).

Exactly, its the same way with everything in our culture anymore. If you don't back the big names and power players then you are nothing more than ignorant, or backwoods. One of these days when the world and specifically our nation are backed into a hard place, and it is coming, who do they think they will turn to for help?
I've always thought the Jurassic Park movies were a good analogy about GMO's.
The first about tampering with genetics and the natural order.
The second, though dealing with GMO organizims and kind of a contridiction, about observing the natural order of the world.
And the third ending with the scen of the ptredactyls. Too much like all the GMO corn pollen floating on the wind. A dangerous predicimentent created by artificial manipulation in a natural population which can not be controlled due to natural equations.
