HERE ARE PICTURE OF THE 3 NEW MELONS OF THE DAY. ANGEL DEW is a delicious sweet, flavorful honeydew. I don't like honydews as much as other melons, but this one frankly put me in the corner with its excellent taste. No honeydew will ever be Sarah or Streit Freiland Grungenetzt, but they can come relatively close. I might have to revisit my views on them if I keep finding others like that... KAISERIN AUGUSTE VICTORIA is not very sweet ( this year), but it has an intense aroma and a beautiful configuration. Any normal year, it should be a crowd pleaser. CONSUL SCHILLER, to my surprise, put on a lot of weight in the last month and is now the most productive with LUNÉVILLE. Not overly sweet this year, but I sliced the smallest specimen, I have 4 much bigger ones waiting and ripening. I might very well edit that comment later. Intense aromas too. All 3 melons beat the crap out of grocery bought ones easily. If these melons have made it to such an acceptable , and even good stage, it could only be much better in a normal year.

Those look wonderful to me. I have yet to get a chance to really play with any of the honeydews and other "exotic" or cantaloupe type melons yet for fear of crossing to my precious green fleshed muskmelon tribe. Perhaps next year I will have to play with them at Kim's Fathers farm and see what I am missing out on.
BTW Michael, thank you so much for the wonderful pics. As we all know I bought a digital camera this year with intentions of documenting everything and quickly realized that I was way overwhelmed by everything this year, though I have some pics to post later, I will make sure that 2009 is more acceptable to my picture taking philosophy.
