Welcome, FF! (Love the name, by the way.)
As far as swapping is concerned, I live in hypersensitive California, so my personal take is... swap away, and worry about the trouble later. I think if you're sending large amounts of seeds, or selling them, you might get in trouble. But as far as one season's worth... meh... who'll know?
Just don't write "SEEDS FROM SCOTLAND" on the envelope, and I think you'll be fine.

Welcome to HG
Where are you in Scotland? What sort of growing season do you have? I once had a friend from the St. Andrews area who did the majority of her gardening in polytunnels because of the short season and the constant winds.
What do you like to grow and what would you be looking to trade?
You are correct in that the majority of members here are from N. America, but don't despair, there are several members in Britain and the Continent.

Welcome from a neighbour of the Scottish capital of Canada, GLENGARRY COUNTY, where the Highland Games are held annualy.
Do not worry about trading here. I hope you'll enjoy it, we sure do. We have more and more people from Europe. This is a forum where you'll find a lot of small farmers, plant explorers and hybridizers.
There is a LOT of knowledge here, and even more generosity. So relax, sit back, ask the dog for the daily paper, you're home.

Welcome to our little neighbourhood. Hope You like it here. And as for trading, we have several traders in Europe, so I can't see any problem. Cheers, Val (grungy) and Dan (grunt)

Hi All, Okay I found this site via a British Gardening forum. Got to say I'm so excited. Love seed swapping but can I seed swap on here? From the looks of things most people on here are living in the US/Canada but I am in dreich Scotland. Please tell me I can swap ;D Need go and calm down now but will be back ;D Hi FrostyFreckle.. welcome to the best gardening forumn on the net. If you love swapping seeds you came to the right spot. I'm one of those from the US and i trade with people all around the world. Never any problems.. cept sometimes it just takes a few weeks for the exchanges. It's actually harder to ship to other countries than it is for me to receive seeds here. I know they have some really strict rules over in Europe. Still I haven't had any problems yet. If there's anything you're looking for that i got.. just let me know. There's probably an old thread or two around here in the Bartering forumn that will list a few of the seeds i have. I know i need to make a new one for this year.. but i usually always have at least a few seeds leftover from last years varieties. Which forumn did ya hear bout us from anyways? I just joined a british forumn last week... maybe i know which one you're talking bout. Just wondering.. cause i go to lots of foreign forumns to meet new people to swap with too... even if i have to use babelfish to translate em for me. Anyways... welcome.. hope you enjoy it here. Dave

Welcome. There are some great people here and very generous with both knowledge and seeds. I don't know much about Scotland, but I do enjoy the Scottish Rock Garden Society's website very much. It seems that England and Scotland have such wonderful gardening traditions. I'm afraid that isn't the case for many in the US. Many here don't have a clue where food really comes from, but perhaps that will change. I'm more into ornamentals than veggies myself, I would be happy to send seeds your way for flowers. Karen
