I need do d o some research in my melon trials, find as much as I can, info etc.. I have ordered from Gatersleben in Germany and GRIN here, but does anybody know of other seed banks that are effectively distributing genetic material, please.
There is the Czech Republic one, but I can't figure it out, I am certain they have material of interest to us. Vavilov institute either. Any other to suggest?
We should make a list of them here.

I agree, we definetly do need a list of publically and privately funded and held seed banks willing to donate seeds to preservation and or breeding work.
Anybody got anything?

Most of the seedbanks don't distribute seeds to the 'general' public, but only trade with other genebanks...As Michel said, GRIN and Gatersleben do distribute material, and so does cipotato (Peru). There are some good African genebanks, but I haven't checked them out thoroughly, so I don't know if they keep it private or not...

Canada does distribute freely too, but their job is to complete Grin, in a way, they have gazillions of wheat and other cereal accessions, Canada being called the bread basket of the world, most of them just numbered, but they are weak in ''general '' seeds. They are good with taters, and fruit tree scions, but one need a permit to import. Here they are pgrc3.agr.gc.ca/order-ordre_e.html

There a way to search the european seed banks databases, using Eurisco search: eurisco.ecpgr.org/

Thanks Soren. I know about them. But they are just a list, really, the banks do have the seeds, but some are hard to reach for me, not speaking the language.
