Some other members of the cucurbitaceae family (squash, cucumbers, gherkins, melons,...) are worth growing, here are some of them: melothria scabra: small olive-sized fruits, eaten as some sort of nibbles, amazingly productive and easy to grow: momordica charantia(many varieties): also known as bitter cucumber, korilla,...needs a bit of warmth to grow, the fruits are indeed a bit bitter, but do taste nice mixed up with carrots, aubergines, tomatoes,..., I have to grow these in the greenhouse: trichosanthes (some varieties): needs also warmth to develop properly, the fruits are also somewhat bitter, and need to be picked young (under 20 cms/8 inches). Mature fruits can become very long, up to 1,5 metres (5 ft):

Those pictures look great... Tell me those are from your garden. And tell me ya got some extra seeds for em.
I've actually got a couple of bitter melons.. or bitter cucumbers as ya call em. Didn't get to plant any of em this year cause i was wanting to give the cukes a year off from the beetles. But, i will be trying some again next year. If you got any saved seeds ya'd like to trade i'd like to ask ya if ya want anything i got?

I will have seed from melothria, momordica for sure. Trichosanthes is still a bit uncertain, some years are good for seed production (depending on the weather), and this year was no good, so, wait and see. I'll send the other ones, anything else you're looking for??? I think I still have some luffa varieties, four cyclantheras (I'm limiting this to the cucurbitaceae here, tell me if you're looking for something else), unfortunately no chayote (again bad weather), have to check for other stuff

I'm always looking for things that are unique, rare, or just unknown. Problem is space.. i don't have room to growout everything i want. I'm gonna be doing luffas for sure this year. So any of those you could spare would be nice. Then i'm gonna do only bout twenty or thirty different cukes.. a few different winter squash types, and maybe a dozen or so summer varieties. Then i got a couple of Lady's Slipper (Cyclanthera pedata) i'm gonna be trialing this coming year and see how those turn out. Just don't have the room to do everything i'd like..gonna get some hami melons going too. Guess with so little room i have to go with whatever is really unique. But everything you got is unique to me.. so anything ya do have extra seeds for i'd love to try. Anything you're looking for i might be able to help ya with? Dave
