If I was you, I would do it, I will actually do it this week end. Here, the commercials plants them until mid-July. It would have to be an early bearing type, certainly not some thing like German Butterball, but it's worth it. They might not make it to the long term storage quality, but you will sure get some good ones.
I have a bag that it past prime eating stage, some forgotten red pontiac that we dropped on grass and forgot, the taters are rooting without doing anything else, so I will trow everything in a spot of lettuce I just cleared.
Last year I planted mid-july and got a full harvest. And I am quite north of you...
