It's a Shipping container for something that arrives at my husband's plant?? It's fiberglass, it's round so it rolls and it's free..need I say more?? So this morning I turned it into a composter...I figure I can roll it a bit every few days and turn the compost without even lifting a garden fork..It has two support tubes inside that should help to break up the chunks as I roll it around to stir the pile...And it was easy to cover the hole. I just tucked a plastic grain bag inside to seal off the cutout.. The pic from the side with the Disc should give the farmers in the group and idea of how large the tub really is? We have 3 or 4 more...I guess I could make several composts at a time, but I was hoping to find other uses for them around the farm like livestock waterers or planters for invasive plants like mints...

Blue - that is too cool! At our house, I probably would have stuffed the kids in it and rolled them! (I know it may seem too small for something like that, but there are days those weasels deserve to get stuffed in a small hole!)
How much fits in it?

Friday I made a pile with one wheelbarrow of 2006 vintage manure (large contractor wheelbarrow), about 5 wheelbarrows of leaves and garden scraps, and miscellany like eggshells and used fibre pots. When I transferred it on Sunday to the drum it fit, except the loose stuff like the leaves kept wanting to escape. But that's only of course, because the hole is on the side not the top of the thing.
It rained pretty good last night. I should go out today and roll it. Need to make some kind of a door for it. Maybe hardware cloth and duct tape??
And yes, it would make a great entertainment centre for munchkins, lol

I think that's gonna' work like a charm, Blue! What could be easier? The volume seems about ideal, too.
As a carpenter, when you mentioned making a door for it, I had an idea... What I would do is cut two plywood circles a few inches bigger than the holes. Then I'd drill holes in their centers to allow a lentgh of threaded rod to go through them (with one door on either side of the compost donut) and put a wing nut on one side for easy removal. You'd need some ventilation holes too, of course.

Hehe, you could dress up like a dung beetle and have someone film you rolling it around! Is there such a show as 'Canada's Funniest Home Videos?"

No,no such show. But maybe I could do that for the Agricultural Society Parade in the village where I work. I can hear the comments now...
