It is beginning to look like the cold in December and January may have damaged my crepe myrtles. They are showing no signs of leaf buds and the twigs and branches are very dry and brittle. A lot of new growth is coming up from the roots.
Should I prune them back to the ground or is it too early to make that judgment? I know crepe myrtle is always one of the last plants to put on leaves.

I am glad I did not prune them back to the ground. All three began to leaf out this week.
