I grew flowers this season that reseed themselves. I thought it meant that the seeds would drop off and lay dormant during the winter and then pop up in the spring. Well they are growing now. So my question is should I do something special to them to help them survive the winter?

If it's a perennial or biennial, you can mulch it.

What flowers did you grow? Generally even the annuals will be ok through the winter. Things like bachelor's buttons and nigella will germinate late summer and make it just fine without you having to do anything.
