I love all wild flowers, orchids, Bearded Iris', snap dragons, lillies, african violets, mexican heather, nicotiana (the flower, it is related to tobaco, the flower is exactly the same as that that grows on the top of tobacco plants). Hmmm...I'm sure there are more. What is everyone elses favorites?

Daylilies are my very very favorite, I think. I also have lots of tulips, iris, peonies, rudbeckia, agapanthus, quince, yucca, daffodils, gladiolas, kniphofia, and a bunch of flowering herbs. My brother-in-law gave me a bunch of dahlias from a growth trial at his job, so those will find a home this spring. New this year will be some trumpet vine, some cleome, poor man's weather glass, and a few others I can't think of as well. I can always find room for another flower!

My favorite ornamental plant is the Crepe Myrtle. The true red varieties are beautiful in the landscape in July and August.
I also enjoy my daylillies, tulips, trumpet vine, hydrangeas and azaleas.

Crape myrtle is beautiful, isn't it? I'm just a little far north for the best varieties, but I think there a couple that are rated to zone 7 now, maybe even 6. We're 6B/7 here where we live in VA. I have managed to nurse a photinia along for a few years now, and they're only rated to zone 8, but I'd really hate to see a crape myrtle die! One of the things i like so much about them is that the bark is so pretty. I haven't had trumpet vine in years, but recently got some from a kind fellow gardener (thanks, Shadowwalker!) He sent the red and the orange varieties to me. I started some seed today.

we had some volunteer daylillies come up a few years ago...My father dug them up and transplanted them in a bed of lillies that I had planted, they come up every year now, with out fail.
I have some really beautiful pictures of my Dad's Iris' that my sister took. They are amazing. They're the great big purple and yellow bearded iris'.
I also love the Rose of Sharon tree/bush, the one that I have my dad and I started from seed when I was in the third grade, when we moved to where we live now he made sure to dig it up from my grandma's yard and bring it with him. when Alan and I move in together, I will start one from a seed and start saving seeds from it as well.

Kimikat - what color is your Rose of Sharon? The Hibiscus syriacus that I have is like a lipstick pink, and then I have some that are white or very pale pink, with a dark pink eye. If you don't have those, and would like some, I have dozens of volunteer plants every year, as well as seed. Let me know if you want any. (That goes for anyone else, too, of course.)

Hey Kim, Rob gave me 15-20 daylilly bulbs from Wards today! So now we've got some more landscape materials for the house!

I like 'em all, but I'd have to say my current obsession is sunflowers. I used to just like the giant single flower types, but last year I got 20 different kinds, and discovered that they attract my wife to the garden.

I'm with you Johno, I love 'em all! I drive my family crazy with my obsession of collecting seeds from all the wild flowers that pop-up in our yard and elsewhere. The last several years i have started digging up the ones I can and moving them to one of the flower beds, LOL. I guess if I had to pick a single kind/type it would be bulbs of any color and size, they are amazing with their vibrant colors and shapes.

I could never pick just one. But I do love daffs. And even though I have probably 20 varieties, I still find a new one to plant each fall. If all goes well, I will have over 1000 blooms this yr. (Keeping fingers crossed)
