The best tunnel supports are the metal frames of election signs. After an election there are hundreds of square metal frames on the side of the road. They are bigger and more sturdy than the ones you get online. And FREE. Just rip off the sign and you have enough tunnel supports for life.

Lore, that's a great Idea!!!! Really it is. I wish I had thought of that before I bought the ones that I have (even though they were used and I got a good price on them) as I hate spending my hard earned money (even if it is a good business investment. I will keep this tip in mind for when I need to extend my low tunnel projects. -Alan

the plastic signs being supported by the wire make decent plasic mulch. I worked for he Kucinnich campaign in '04 and ended up with about 50 of the yard signs. We used the supports for row covers and fixing chicken fencing and the signs themselves for plastic mulch in the high tunnels.
