FP, Are you going to get brave and eat purple broccoli?? Maybe with green tomatoes on the side? LOL Or just use it as a table centrepiece? I'll eat broccoli right after I go skydiving. I am certainly not going to eat the pointy green brain called Romanesco. lol I know a few people who will eat it. It won't go to waste. Thanks, Bunkie.

The Fibonacci sequence is so interesting it got me to try Romanesco again this year. I actually ordered seeds late. Last year my brassicas did poorly! I am giving it another shot. This was most of my harvest last season.

I will be more than happy with a crop like that. Did they take long to head? So far I have plants about 10 inches tall lots of healthy leaves and no sign of the cauliflower!

80-100 days from transplant doesn't seem that long to me. I have a cauliflower that takes 220 days. You plant it in fall and get it in the Spring. It's an ordinary white brain. Not green and fractal making...

We grow the Romanesco, the Violetto and a white called di Jesi. . The Violetto is by far and away my favorite for flavor. And I just received an e-letter from Seeds From Italy with a picture of a Cauliflower de Sicilia Violetta growing in the garden of their customer Holly Dumont. Imagine that!

I can not imagine. She was probably bragging. I am experiencing "Purple Envy"! I love all things purple! The master bedroom & master bath in my home are overwhelmingly, predominantly, riotously purple. I have even dyed my hair a deep, dark, subtle purple on occasion. ;D Also, I have "Weird Cultivar Envy". Brassicas seem to do pretty well down here, so I must try the Romanesco, the Violetto, the Cheddar cauliflower and the green cauliflower I've seen in some catalogs. (note to self: order this seed) Is the Violetto like standard broccoli, just purple? Likewise, is the green cauliflower like standard white cauliflower, just green instead?

I have read that the Violetto is a heritage variety from Sicily.
It tastes slightly sweeter than regular brains.

I just got some Romanesco Natalino and Verde Marchigiano cauliflower seed today; I must add these to the ~2 dozen Brassicas I've got sprouting for transplants. The first is so Fibonacci-attractive and the second looks like very delicate broccoli; yummers!
