Perhaps this is paranoid of me but I found a swollen gall like structure on a Osaka Purple mustard plant and out of curiosity looked up what would cause a 'gall' on a mustard plant coming up with Swede Midge which has been reported in Ontario though not necessarily in Ottawa. (If the image doesn't post, it's on my blog) I have seen no other damage on any of my other brassicas that would be correlated except for some questionable chew marks on one kale plant though I think that is from the more common pests in my garden. Anyone else seen something like this before.

Never. Perhaps it's a mutant, or the plant equivalent of a tumour!

Hey hey. A reply. Yes, I'm waiting until next year to see if anything similar happens. It looks like a plant tumour to me too. ;-)

Insect damage sometimes brings that tumour like damage on other plants too...

Yup Michel, hence the speculation that it was a gall from a swede midge. I really hope that it's not though.
