Hi everyone -- I got here from the IDigMyGarden forum. My name is Denise and I live in Miami, Florida. I just moved here 3 years ago from Seattle, WA. I recently bought a house, so now I can finally garden again! The adjustment to the new climate is kinda funny though: basically, the seasons are reversed here, so now is the time to plant (in November!), rather than in March. Go figure! But the weather here suits me sooooooo much better. And now I get to grow tropical stuff. I have volunteer papayas in my yard right now. I love heirlooms, open-pollinated, and unusual varieties. I am glad to have found a community of like-minded folk from all around the world. I am looking forward to learning from everyone. Thanks for reading! Denise

Welcome in the family Denise. Now we have somebody to cook us some papaya chutney I guess you'll have to learn the tricks of the trade from the southern folks here! Want melon seeds?

I will take absolutely ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. I just love to grow stuff, and as I was telling Dave (who introduced me to this forum), even the stuff I don't like to eat I will grow just because it is beautiful and because other people will appreciate it. I just like growing food. Not to mention that I just got laid off 3 weeks ago, so any seeds anyone wants to send would be appreciated. I did seed-swapped several years back, and I got addicted to adding more and more varieties to my stock. I think I learned my lesson, though, that it is better to give than to have 500 packets of seeds losing viability. Thanks for the welcome! You all are fascinating. I am loving reading everyone's posts and descriptions, and checking out the pictures. I was particularly impressed with the French balcony of a 1000 veggies and the red-podded peas. Wow!
