Last spring I put some composting worms into my covered compost bins.
By regular feeding I kept the bins from freezing. Today I took the bin temperature. The air temp is: 24ºF and the interiot temp of the bins is: 124ºF.

This (original post) was about three weeks after my last addition of goat manure. I haven't added any since. I am finishing off bin # 1 into the garden. Bin # 2 has only had the screened out worms and the top most active layer of bin # 1, and table and kitchen scraps since then.
Today I took temperatures in several places in bin # 2; they ran from 95F to 105 F at one foot depth. Warm, but it should not cook the little wrigglers.
In only 19 more years I may get the hang of this.
