Now here's a thing I've never seen... Just picked a Kohlrabi (Early Purple Vienna, bought off Baker Creek in 08) with a weird shape. At each leaf axil it has made a baby Kohlrabi. (No camera handy, and its in the pot for supper already. Sorry!) So there's the main bulb, as normal, but warted all over with baby bulbs, each determined to become a Kohlrabi All Its Own. It's sorta like Broccoli, but making the babies with the stem instead of the leaf-heads.
Is this common? I don't have a lot of experience with Kohlrabi...
Anyway, I cut all the side bulbs off and stuck them in water; I'll make arrangements to propagate them all as cuttings tomorrow, and attempt to hand-pollinate them next Spring.

Sounds like a special kohlrabi there! I never grow it my self as I can buy them easily here. Do try to root it, it might come up with great surprise .

Pssht - pay no attention to Michel, Mike... if he was hungry, he'd have eaten it too. And after all, you did save those side shoots. Good for you! But dude - I'm going to have to send you a tether for that camera, so we won't miss a picture ever again!
Hope the frankenkohl was tasty!

Taste was OK -- pretty much normal, but it was quite a lot tougher than a normal Kohlrabi of the same size. The baby Kohls, though were very tender -- probably just due to their smaller size. Anyhow, I'm going to root and plant all those babies, so all is not yet lost.

You can also blame our ignorance of what's normal for Kohlrabi... for all we knew this sort of thing is dirt common!
