I have a styrofoam box just outside on the deck with lettuces, mustards, and other greens. I'll use this for salads. I'll have to have a couple of boxes at different stages but I've just started this first one so the need for others is a way off yet..

I should steal this idea for growing summer lettuces in a sunny room. They get so bitter here when it's hot. And that's just when I start craving salads and needing lots of cilantro, too.

Your 15 Jan runs about our 15 July. I'd hardly ever think of planting these greens at that time. I'd expect the lettuce to bolt and the mustards to revolt!

I plant a second crop of greens about mid August here. Plant the seed a little heavy and harvest the leaves small if you want.
