Does anybody know of any companies carrying Ullucus tuberosus (ones that ship to the UK)?
The Real Seed Catalogue was selling it but its no longer on their website. I was hoping to obtain some tubers this season to try and develop it as a perennial leaf crop, but I cant find any other suppliers.
Any suggestions?

Frank (orflo) may see this thread anyway, but if not, you might want to ask him. I know he's growing it, and he may have some extra you could have. I think this is where Real Seeds got it from...
I don't know if you've tried growing it before, but it's not easy.

I'm sorry, I have to put a stop on my ullucus trades right now, people keep asking for them and I listed them on SSE and Arche Noah, so I must keep some for these purposes. I'll see if there's anything left in April... Ben will probably list them from mid- February on(if they didn't freeze at his place), so you could check the realseeds site again.

Hi orflo,
Thanks for your response.
I figured you would be inundated with requests for Ullucus, and I quite understand that supply is limited. That's why I was hoping for a commercial source of seed tubers. I will email Ben and inquire about his Ullucus, but I suspect that the unusually hard frosts we have experienced this winter may have taken their toll.
I've been overwintering my Oca in the ground for the past three years without any trouble from frosting. We have had frosts but they have always come through OK. This year however I don't expect anything to survive. I tried harvesting a few tubers for New Years Day, but the ground was so hard I could barely break it with a pick, and when I did eventually get through I found the ground frozen solid three or four inches deep. The Oca was completely encased in a block of frozen soil, and so there was no Oca on the menu this year.
I haven't actually checked yet but the few tubers near the surface are clearly dead, so I expect the rest of them to have been killed also. Fortunately there are a few people selling Oca on eBay, so I've restocked from there.
As for the Ullucus, if I can't find any this year the project can wait a season or two. Things tend to work out when the time is right, so I'm sure I'll get hold of some eventually.
