Hey My name is Marjeta and I come from Slovenia. I'm finishing my studies (law). I've started with tomatoes and squash... and I'm still in love with them both. Over here you can't get much varieties, only a few, that's why years ago I've made my first order abroad (T&M). It was the black russian that cought my attention. ;D And some others. And that's how my obsession started. My sister is surfing on facebook, my boyfriend reads all the World of warcraft forums, and I explore the vegetable sites and forums. I also have horses...they're good manure producers. This year I'll grow about 200 tomato varieties and about 100 squash varieties. And other vegetables. I like growing things that I can eat.

Hi Marjeta, Welcome to Bishop's Homegrown. Glad to see you have found us. Please make yourself comfortable and jump right in when ever you wish. If you are that far into tomatoes - join the club. Maybe we can trade varieties.
Anyway, again, welcome and join the gang.
Cheers, grungy

Thanks to all. This year I won't be limited with space because the garden around the house became to small for my projects. That's why I'm moving to the fields (I can't explain better...it's not near the house, but outside the village). I'll trade in late autumn with everyone that would like to. But I still have some squash available if someone wants.

Dober Dan Marjeta!
Just thought I would say hi. My girlfriend (now wife) are from England and traveled through mainland Europe in 2007, and spent time in Slovenia. It was one of the real highlights of the trip. We were mainly in the Julian Alp (Bled & Bohinj), but also went over to Ljubljana and then down to Piran. Everyone we met was friendly, even the policemen waking us up at 7:00am to tell us that wild camping is illegal in Slovenia!
I would been keen to swap for some squash seeds. I don't know if you are into beans/peas, but I have some "Martock" Broad Bean seeds, which is an ancient bean that has been grown in England since at least Elizabethan times, if not earlier. I also have a couple of unusual or difficult to get hold of peas.
Let me know...
James

This is a very nice forum with very nice people. It will take me a few days of intensive reading to go through it and get to know all of you better. James, I'll pm you. I'm glad you had a nice time in Slovenia. You've actually passed my place - can be seen from the highway. You're welcome next time you to Slovenia.

Thanks to all. I'm "recruiting" another friend of mine from Slovenia. I hope she'll join us soon. Bled's island with the castle is actually our only island (on the lake). We only have 42km (26 miles) of sea coast and no islands there. Well, better than nothing.
