I though as a newbie I would tell you about the fruit I grow. On the allotment I have 2 apple trees, old varieties, who's names I can't remember! I will dig out my notes and let you know. I inherited them and I have been told by some of the old chaps, they are very old trees more than 80 years old. Also on the allotment I have a -
fig tree, variety Brown Turkey
raspberries, Glen Ample and Autumn Bliss
blackcurrants - varieties unknown as they have all been taken from cuttings
redcurrants - varieties unknown,
green gooseberry - varieties unknown as inherited the bushes
red gooseberry, Pax
jostaberry
goji berry
Strawberries - mixed varieties.
At home I have 3 small cordon apple trees, 1 golden delicious grafted on very dwarfing rootstock, a morello cherry, an asian pear, conference pear and I think I have a little plum tree tucked away by my greenhouse. I also have a grapevine growing inside my greenhouse and one growing outside over the shed. This will be their first full year so fingers crossed we get a couple of bunches. I also have a patio peach that the children brought me for mothers day 2 years ago. It is a minature type grown in a massive pot. The fruits are larger than apricots, but not as large as a 'proper' peach. I also have a medlar tree, an old fashioned tree producing weird fruit which I make into jelly come the winter.
I don't have to grow blackberries as in our neighbourhood and on the allotment there are masses growing wild which I pick during the late summer.
