Hello all. Just stumbled upon the forum via the Hip-Gnosis Seed site. What an impressive and enthusiastic bunch of folks that have gathered here. I am humbled and grateful by everyone's generosity and for everyone's willingness to share their vast knowledge.
I'm an avid urban gardener living in SW WA. I immigrated to the Pacific NW from Texas in 1995 and am enjoying the better (although somewhat unpredictable) growing conditions of the Pacific NW. I have been a local agriculture booster, urban farming advocate, and farmland preservation activist since my days as a culinary professional in Texas. I have done quite a bit of seed saving. I am interested in attempting some breeding projects, I am always trying to extend my growing season, and looking forward to expanding my winter gardening efforts via perennial vegetables in the near future. I love to cook, have been perfecting my charcuterie skills for the past few years, and am actively learning the nuances of canning/preserving produce. I enjoy picking wild mushrooms and other forest edibles and engage in the under-appreciated art of practicing usufruct on my neighborhood's bounty of fruit bearing plants. I have been married for seven years and have an amazing two year old daughter who already loves getting dirty and eats everything we grow....except dad's hot peppers. I am a journeyman residential electrician and am currently employed by a great, family owned electrical contracting shop as the service manager and in-house IT support. I also have a blog that covers agriculture and gastronomy issues related to my locale.
I think that about covers the pertinent stuff...looking forward to making new acquaintances here at Homegrown Goodness!
