full title is " The Field and Garden Vegetables of America by Fearing Burr", but it wouldn't all fit in the title line. You can download the book here (1.45 Mb as html file, or 369 K as straight text) www.gutenberg.org/etext/21682I couldn't think which individual thread to put this in so I started this one. This is not quite what you would expect from the title, but goes into most of the "exotics" that are discussed, and then some. The one that caught my eye especially was the reference to Couves Thronchuda, which would be almost another marrow kale, or perhaps good for cross breeding. Written in 1863, so you will see a lot of varieties that are no longer.

Many thanks for this. I borrowed this via Inter-library loans in the UK over 20 years ago but only had a day to have a look before I returned to Norway. Great finally to have a proper look!
