I think I posted on these before but I can't find the post Anyhow, anyone know how long it takes for the root to develop to harvestable size?

An interesting question Telsing, why don't you answer it. Why I think I will. Perhaps growing some? That might give you an idea. Go on then, grow some. I'll get right on it.

A very interesting idea! Think I might join you... Actually, I already have and sowed my first seed a month ago. It germinated quickly and I just made a measurement of one root (not a very good statistic, I know) and it had a diameter of 0.6mm. I think that this is not harvestable size and would therefore conclude that 3 weeks (from germination) is not enough and that the time to harvestable size, Th > 3 weeks. Assuming that the growth rate is linear and that you know what the harvestable size actually is, I estimate that the time to harvest in months can be calculated by the following simple formula: Th= H/0.08 where H is the harvestable size in cm. Sorry, but this is the best that I can do....the estimate can be updated later.

Stephen: That's the best answer I've seen yet! Looking forward to doing some comparisons though I haven't sown my seed yet.

I have a lot of admiration for anybody that can measure in parts of ONE millimeter. Their eyes are much better than mine

Well, I was going to order this from Prairie Moon, ran out of time, then looked over my emerging seedlings. It seems I already ordered it last year, planted it earlier and have germination already. You wouldn't believe how bad my mind is. I seem to look at a catalog and order the same stuff over and over again.

Karen, I've done the same thing numerous times. I explain it by realizing that the same thought process that made me buy something once is usually at play when I buy it twice. I guess that is a good thing. My mind still works in consistent patterns.
The problem arises when I forget I bought something and I think there are two reasons for that - first, I often want to buy something and don't, so it's easy to get confused when I want to buy so many things and only buy some of them. Second, I buy a lot of things, sometimes from different sellers, so it's easy to get confused that way also and buy something twice.
Anyway, this is just a long way of saying that your mind is not going bad.
