Does anyone know what happened with Carol Deppe's Sandwich-slice squash and large Sugarloaf squash breeding projects?

How weird, I was wondering that myself since I reread that book today. I even tried popping some black chickpeas this afternoon (bought them from an Asian grocery store) and it worked! And I'm going to sow some of them to see if they'll grow here, just as an experiment. Sorry I can't be helpful, just thought I'd let you know I know what you're talking about.

You just had to buy them at the store silverleaf? I'm seriously jealous. I had to search high and low and finally someone on here found me some. If I remember correctly, they were round, dark coloured with brown streaks. I'm sowing them this year. Very excited.

I've also been wondering about the Sandwich-slice squash since January after rereading my long-lost Carol Deppe book, Breed Your Own Vegetable Varieties. Some of the popped chickpeas broke teeth.

It is more than weird that no one knows what happen with these very interesting (on paper) squashes!!! P. S. Here is one of the popping chickpeas described by Carol Deppe - the PI 374085

How exciting, my chickpeas are just a uniform tan colour. Some popped fine and some didn't, but no broken teeth here!
I tried popping moth beans as well but they mostly burned before they popped, and only a few of them actually got cooked by the popping. Plus they are so tiny they aren't worth the bother. I might experiment later to see if other beans/peas pop as well.

Speaking of carol deppe, and chickpeas/garbonzo beans. I wonder what happened to her projects with that? If I remember right she was breeding some which survived her winter....

Anybody got some contact info? If not I know Alan Kapuler and her were close and I might be able to arrange something like the interview I did with him last winter with her.
I also have Ken Ettlinger on the list. Tim Peters is supposed to do one still, he's just been too busy to have a chance to do so.

Anybody find any contact information for her or otherwise find out anything about her squash crosses?

Ok,
found some contact information and after this busy week is over I will be getting in contact with her about a possible interview and about information regarding these squash lines, I will also extend a warm welcome to come join Homegrown Goodness.
