I finally got around to teaching myself how to graft after requesting some scion wood from the GRIN system earlier this season, we were lucky enough to recieve scion wood from 30 accessions of very rare pears including one red fleshed variety, not knowing what I was doing or should be looking for regarding rootstock I placed an order to raintree for some pear rootstock which was a bit larger than I would have liked and was subsequently worried about the quality and strength of the grafts that were made especially given my inexperience, however the scion wood is now beggining to bud out and it looks like we may have experienced success!

Good for you Alan!
Once you get the hang of it, it is easier than it looks when reading about it.
