I'm wondering if it's too early for clover used as green manure.
There is only one planting area open right now, the rest are still covered with snow.
But this one planting area has thawed out pretty good. It's right next to the house and south facing. I was able to get a garden fork in there yesterday to turn it over a bit to get out the winter-heaved rocks.
In that bed there are some garlic that I thought had died, but are now sprouting and I found what I think are Swiss Chard roots still viable.
So it got me thinking... would I be able to get away with planting a green manure right now in that spot? Seems to be a micro climate there and is always the first place to melt in spring.
If I could get a green manure going, I could turn it over just in time to plant cold hardy veg.
What do you all think? Frost forecasted tonight and tomorrow night but the rest of the week there isn't supposed to be frost and mostly rain instead, with lows set for +2 - +4 C, and highs between +6 and +10 C. Not sure what to expect for the week after though.
