So, after planting the "Dog Patch" with cukes, zukes, tomatoes, and peppers, I moved on to check out the hazelnut trees nearby. To my disgust (but not surprise) They had scale. I'm not really sure what to do about scale. I get a piece of paper towel and wipe them off, squishing them as well as possible in the process.
After perusing the web, I didn't really find anything wonderful and the one photo I located was of a tree that was absolutely infested.
I'm thinking that a scrub down with lightly soapy water might do the trick here. These are the 2 oldest hazelnuts. The one planted last year and about 100' further down the row was not affected. At least I didn't see any.
Advice?
