OK, again, I realize that this is a very old thread but I'm trying to catch up.
My favorite tomatoes for taste are Stump of the World, Aunt Gertie's Gold, Earl's Faux and Dr. Wyche's Yellow. My wife's would be Cherokee Purple and Black Krim.
My favorite bi-color is Lucky Cross followed by Big Rainbow.

And now, back to your local programming........
This is top secret, but I actually don't like tomatoes. I'm a weirdo, because I love growing them, but a fresh garden tomato, all by itself, yuck. Add some salt, okay, I can sorta see the appeal. Add mayo, lettuce and bacon, okay, that's doable, but I'd rather do without the tomato.
However, the two tomatoes that I almost liked would be Black Cherry (salt, almost good) and Galina's Yellow (another cherry, yes, added salt). These will definitely be always grows in my garden, cause, well, I've never found another tomato that I 'almost' liked before. My youngest daughter, on the other hand, is a tomato junkie of the highest order, and I don't think she has met a tomato she does not like. My hub really liked the black/purples (Zigan, Purple/Black Prince, loved Black Cherry).
Now, if you're making Bruschetta, that's another story. I love it, and the oranges and yellows are fantastic, for taste and colour. Orange Jubilee, and Vova Yellow, throw in a Russian Persimmon, and you're off to the races (oven in my case).
There's my two cents. (Canadian, dontcha know, but you don't get any change!!)

Finally a fellow tomato disliker such as myself. I won't eat them unless just a taste to make an analasis. The few I can somewhat stand are yellow pear, and a couple of green varieties but only a bite or two, other than that count me out.
I guess this could be a good thing though, because it means I don't have to lie to my customers about the taste of a tomato to sell it because I hate the tastes of all of them allmost equally.
However I do love growing, harvesting, and seeing the diversity that they provide here on the farm, so you and I are in the same boat there! -Alan

Nibblin' on sponge cake, watchin' the sun bake; All of those tourists covered with oil. Strummin' my six string on my front porch swing. Smell those shrimp They're beginnin' to boil. Wasted away again in Tomatoville, Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt. Some people claim that there's a woman to blame, But I know it's nobody's fault. ....sorry...I couldn't help it

Yep, few and far between but we do exist. In middle school I had a biology teacher who gave us this acid paper test (not that kind of acid) it turns out that 9 times out of ten the people who can taste the acid on the paper are the onese who don't eat and don't like tomatoes and I was one of those folks.

Will you guys quit talkin' about fresh tomatoes ... my drooling is about to ruin my keyboard ...
One of the funnest things I did this summer was taste testing, reviewing and photographing the 22 varieties of maters I trialed this year. The taste difference between them was amazing ... skin toughness varied greatly ... discovered I liked some of the more acid tasting ones as much as the milder varieties.
Two faves were Missouri Pink Love Apple and Cherokee Purple. Both were delish!

Well, I love them and I'm not afraid to admit it. AND I like them better raw than cooked. I can't stand tomato sauce, and am not a big ketchup guy either. Stewed is OK. But fresh from (or in) the garden is the best. And looking out the window at 10" of snow makes me want them even more. I can't wait until spring.

Don't get me wrong, I love tomatoes just about any way other than raw. I love ketchup, salsa, marinara sauce, and anything with processed tomatoes, I just can't deal with them raw or on a sandwhich or anything like that, and definetly not that macoroni stuff that my mom puts tomato juice in though I do love cooked brown or white beans with some tomato juice poured on top in the wintertime, that's good eating, just keep everyone away from me for a couple of hours or they may have to run away covering their noses.
