Curiosity got the best of me earlier this week because I can already see cracks in the ground where my sweet taters are planted. Naturally I had to take a peek and look at what I found. They still have all this month and on into Sept before I start gathering them. I have a feeling there is gonna be a good crop this year.

Beauty. I loved growing sweets and plan on doing it again next year. We had a bumper harvest a couple years back with Georgia Jet and boy did they taste yummy. They also looks so pretty in cultivation.

My son bought the slips for me back in May. He was told they were Beauregard . Most years I grow the Porto Rico.
Hoping for a bumper crop this year.
Now I am thinking about a sweet potato pie with lots of cool whip. ;D

They do indeed look like Beauregard as both the tuber and foliage is correct. I'm growing 33 of those, 27 O'Henry, and 3 Georgia Jet. (Should have been a dozen GJs but 9 didn't survive shipping.) Beauregards and Georgia Jets have all sprawled at least 5' and I'm expecting them to easily do 8' in the rich ground that they are growing in. O'Henrys are new to me and supposed to be more compact. So far that's holding true with barely 3' vines.
