Funny, Johno, Nutrite is also using it as an organic herbicide in Canada. Don't ask me how it works...

Beetroot Juice also scares you half to death- the first time you drink it and then go for a pee afterwards- it colours your pee deep pink to red, you think you are bleeding to death-until you realize what it is

Ehmm I like share my scary experience with beet (red ones) too... we never have beet on our table since I was a child as my Mum find the colour too dominant for any cooking. I grew my first ever beet during 2006 (Holland red blood type), me and hubbie ate the first harvested beet for dinner... the next morning at the small room we were shock with the colour... Eversince I only grow the yellow one (Golden beet) .

We just harvested some beets yesterday, mostly chiogga ones. Is it the red in the beets that has magic powers? I'll have to read that article.

I had steamed beets and beet greens for lunch today. Probably one of few who enjoy them that way rather with a proper meal. One day may be with vinegar over them, next may be butter. A person never can eat too many of them.
