Well almost 2 lbs... 1.875 lbs it appears.. Maybe not even that, if that housefly is helping to tip the scales, lol. Flowerpower gave me this Pink Accordian tomato on Sunday. But she had forgotten to take pics of it, so I did. And just to prove how large it really was, I weighed it at the same time. And a full frontal next to an almost 1 lb Jerry's German Giant from my garden.

Thanks Skip. Just wait til I cut it open tomorrow. I'll take more pics before I extract the seeds and devour what's left of the mater. I can smell the bacon frying already.

CFF, The Sieva's are still growing, but the race is on! It's been a cold weekend here (as it has in much of the northeast) and I'm hoping that Jack Frost does not visit tonight and destroy them before they finish developing in the pods!! I was holding off writing you, hoping to have good news about them. Think Good Thoughts pleez.

Thanks, but I really really want to be able to say that I rushed the season Sounds like yours did well, irregardless of the lack of rain. Glad to hear it. How do they stack up against longer season Butterbeans like Fordhook or whatever is the norm in the Carolinas??

I went ahead and ordered more seed already, the early frost and the proceeding drought pretty much wrecked our farming this year. Such is life till next season

Blue, it looks even bigger on the scale! I hope you enjoyed it! There was only one tomato weigh-in around here. I believe the winner was less than 1.5 lbs. Now if I plan better next yr, maybe I will enter. The prize was a $25 gift card to Wally World.

A gift certificate to Wally World? I suppose you could use it to buy something at their garden centre?! The one fair around here that has giant veggie contests has good prizes like $100 for largest pumpkin and gift certificates at a locally owned garden centre. So yeah, next year, off our butt's and make those giant veggies! And don't worry, I'll send you back some seed from the Accordian.

I would have donated it to the animal shelter. The contest was held at a private farm. The men had to bring the longest cuke. The lady who won gave hers to the local food bank. He mater was only 1.4 lbs. I can do better that and have a cool looking, heirloom mater to boot. After reading descriptions and looking at pics. I don't think that is a true Pink Acc. It is supposed to be hollow. And way more ruffled on the bottom. But its actually fairly meaty. I'll take a pic of a cut one. I got those in a trade so I am going to contact the person and ask her where she got the seeds. I am almost positive they were commercial though.

This definitely isn't hollow. Yep, find out what it is. I was wondering if they were offspring of that wrinkled tomato you bought at Price Chopper?? Until you mentioned that you got these in a trade. I still think they are worth growing out again to see what becomes of them. Game

I still have some of the seeds she sent me too. I am sending her an email today. See if she remembers the seed source. I'll find out if she grew them this yr. I'll grow more from the original seed next yr along with the ones I saved.
