So happy to see this part of the forum being used. As you may or may not know I have been planting an orchard/vineyard myself and have learned several methods of grafting this season, all in all I have made great progress, even in growing things from seed.
So here is what I am looking for:
Sources for fruit and nut seed......including trades
I know all about things not coming true from seed, but that is part of the fun. Luther Burbank proved that this method is more than worth while, and since I plan on breeding perrinial fruits and nuts it will be of great use for me.
Anyhow, the seed types I'm needing to source include everything from any kind of nut tree, apples, pears, peaches, plums, apricots, persimmons, nectarines (any fruit tree basically) to ribes and rubus and other berry seeds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated friends.
-Alan

It is real slow growing, but if you want pinon seed let me know. It is a desert adapted type, but I have heard of people growing it in washington state.

Sheffields, I may have mentioned that before somewhere, but they have many types. Just looked at their site, the prices for the 'sample' packs have gone up, they used to sell small quantities for $3 each. Now it varies for different species. Like many for $8.95. They do list the number of seed per pack though, and that is still less than what you would pay for one tree. I think they have just about anything you could want, apple, aronia, amelancheir, actinidia, peaches, apricots, pears, cherries, etc. If you have a look and decide you want to order let me know-there are a few things that I would like to order too.

More will be coming, Alan as we harvest our stuff and I can appropiate (sp?) other varieties from our neighbors.

Alan I have some peach pits now, from a tree growing in a town down the road. The tree was grown from seed, thats all I could find out. Im not sure if if it decended from the zuni ones or not, but it WAS planted around the time that it was readily possible to get them. and it is known lots of people planted those seeds.
So this is a pretty hardy peach, your welcome to a few, and so is anyone else. First come first serve, with some saved for grungy. Ive got alot of them now.
