Total weight 423 lbs. I'd hate to try and guess what we would have ended up eith if we'd had a good growing year. Names to go with the numbers on the second photo: 1/ Bush Banana 2/ Hopi Orange 3/ Texas Indian 4/ Slovenska Golica 5/ Tonda Padana 6/ Tonda Padana 7/ Black Futsu 8/ Muscade de Provence 9/ QA341 10/ Arikaga 11/ Guatemalan Blue Banana 12/ Tennessee Sweet Potato 13/ Zapalito Italiano 14/ Permelon 15/ Violina 16/ Calabeza de Castille 17/ Futsu Kurokawa 18/ Warsaw Buff 19/ Hokkaido Stella Blue It's obvious that some of my seed is either crossed, or mixed. Since I have never grown any of these varieties before, I have no idea which is the correct shape, size, or colour for any of them. Tonda Padana has two distinct shapes and colorations, and each was on separate vines. Black Futsu isn't near as big as I think it is supposed to be, and I can't see where it would be called black. Arikaga is all different shaped, but I think that is just environmental response. Permelon, I have no idea of what it should be, but I have two colorations, and 3 shapes. But they are out of the garden, and waiting now. There will be seeds available for all of them, even the crosses/mistakes, once we figure out which end is up for the trading season, and get a chance to taste some of them at least. Cheers Dan & Val

Great job! I just love the color on #19. What were the weights on the Hopi Orange? Looks like a good sized pumpkin.

Wow Dan, 400+ lbs of squashes on a BAD year? How blessed can a person get? I particularly like the looks of the Hopi Orange squashes. They would be beautiful carved in the Phillipino style (lightly striated in floral and geometric patterns, candle light shows off the carving). What is the flavor like? My oldest boy is already thinking of pumpkin pies! Don't suppose you could get a really big rubber band and send me one! ;D

The largest Hopi weighed 27 pounds, followed by 21, and the little guy was 17. Thank you kindly for the compliments.

Great harvest Dan and Val ! The Hokkaido stella blue is very attractive, at first sight I thought they are Crown (as the shape and colour are the same).

Tn Sweet Potato #12 is not supposed to be white. The colour should look similar to #5. I wonder if it was mismarked as opposed to crossed. It reminds me more of Fortna White. I think #10 is misspelled. Should be Arikara. Here's a link to a pic. It's the 2nd one. www.heritageharvestseed.com/pages/s1.htmlG & G, were you able to bag the blossoms on these? Could you please put a few seeds on the side for me? I'd like #'s 2,3, 12,& 19. Thanks

Hi Flowerpower,
we wrapped the blossoms loosely in tulle and tie it closed with binder twine. Hopefully they were able to cross.
And of course when I do the dirty deed of butchering them, we would be happy to send you samples of 2,3,12 and 19. Right now they are sun curing prior to storage.
