Hi All, I bough a pack of seeds of this perennial flowers/herbs this spring, sowed a whole tray with the hope that I can have some small amount of homemade Pyrethrum (for natural insecticide) and to be planted next to brassica as companion planting... but the whole tray yielded no seedling, none germinated . I can reorder another pack ,but fear that it is bad seed and ended up the same again... Please educate me, do they need stratifications or warm temperature ? I can sow them indoor in my heated propagator if that is what it takes... Do you know any good source that carry these seeds ? Many thanks in advance !

I grew some this year and have a few seedlings that I need to get planted out soon. I got my seed from JLHudson. I will go out and look up my sowing records and let you know.

hiven, we have grown this in the past. i am planning on winter sowing some in December this year. we have never had any problem with the seeds germinating when we started them in the spring. as far as i know they need no stratifying i would check with the company you bought them from...perhaps they will replace them. i think we bought the seeds from Nichols Nursery in Oregon.

I sowed the seed on Feb 8, 2009, and potted seedlings on May 15. I use an unheated greenhouse, so they did get a bit of cold stratification, about 2-3 months of below freezing temps. The seed I used was old, which means that I left it in a humid, hot greenhouse/potting shed for who knows how many years. I don't have the seed pack left, so I don't know what year it was packed for. I gave most of my leftover seed to Alan, maybe he still has the pack. I do love JLHudson. They don't have online ordering per se, but you can send your order through email and pay through paypal, they usually send seed very quickly, and if they are going to be out of town they always say so on their website so you will know about any delay. If I had seeds left I would have been happy to send them to you. Maybe next year I will have seeds from my plants to share with everyone.

Nevi!!!! I've got plants...if they're still there, they're quite old. I can divide them and they'll end up in Baarlo one day. I'll check if they're there...Strangely enough I don't find a picture of them....

Bunkie, I don't have the receipt anymore besides I don't want to receive the same bad seeds from them... felt easier to order new seeds which I did yesterday. Frank, thanks for your offer buddy, but I have order some seeds yesterday . Have you harvest your flowers for their insecticide property ? If they don't work well, I will grow them as ornamental and use them for companion planting.
