i was just looking at sse's website and saw their blue jade variety of sweet corn. does anyone have experience with this variety? id like to know your opinion of the taste, quality, production, all the basics. i like that it can be grown in containers, which is why im interested in it.
does anyone recommend this variety?

For me it was so-so.
Out of all of the lines of OP, Inbred, and Hybrids it is in the bottom 10 for me.
That being said, if you were in the far north, on the peripheries of the corn growing area, I would grow it.
But then again, painted hills (the sweet version of painted mountain, bred by Dr. Alan Kapuler) is probably a better choice.
For it's size it is productive and has some taste so I won't write it off completely.

Kids may find it a fun thing to grow...

I strongly agree with that, if I had young kids, I would grow it like hell.
