Alan has posted a couple of good books recently, but he used Googlebooks as the source. Yeah, Googlebooks is a great resource and all that, but it can be a pain in the backside at times...especially if you want to keep a local copy on your computer... Well, never fear, because many of those books, especially ones from before the 1950s are able to be found elsewhere. The Biodiversity Heritage Library is one place...( www.biodiversitylibrary.org/Default.aspx). The have over 37,000 titles and 70,000 volumes online and downloadable in PDF and other formats. The selection of materials includes not only older, out of print books but research papers of more modern vintage that are in the public domain. Here's an example listing for the subject 'Plant Breeding'... www.biodiversitylibrary.org/subject/Plant+breedingAnother great resource is The Internet Archive ( www.archive.org/details/texts). Their search does scan the BHL, also, but it includes various University and large library collections that are not in the BHL. It also offers full downloads in PDF and several other ebook formats for most items.

The BHL has all 12 volumes (I think there are only 12) of Luther Burbank His Methods...(about the longest book title I've ever seen), among the many gems.
