Got my order from JLHudson yesterday. Better than anything else I could have wanted. I only ordered about half of what I wanted to, but it is a pretty good start. Their 2010 catalog is supposed to go up by the end of Dec, so maybe I can get all of my wishlist later. I am making a concentrated effort this year to get a broad range of food plants in the ground. Even though we want to move I am going ahead with planting, at least I will have plants to get starts from when/if we do move. Sherri included a note with my order and said that they were selling a 'lot' of veg seeds, and she underlined 'lot' twice. The economy is good for the seed business, and while it is a hard time for a lot of people, it is encouraging that more people are gardening. Of course, there is a back to the land movement everytime the economy tanks, but maybe this time it will lead to a different kind of movement. Farmers markets were already becoming huge, and cooking shows were already popular. I think 'movements' will be more successful if they are moving 'toward' something good rather than just running away from something bad. A long winded way of saying this-you breeders are doing something important at the perfect time to be doing it. Now is the time to let the world know what you have to offer.

Here, here to the breeders.
I have noticed the same increase in interest of plants with both 'form' and 'function.'

I hope to get some more lines of my stuff out to the public next year, maybe nothing quite as amazing as what Kapuler, Wagner, and Peters have done, but hopefully people find what I work on of importance, time will tell I suppose.
I too am getting ready to treat myself to Christmas, but I won't recieve my present until March. Gonna place two orders for turkeys including the uber rare Beltsville small whites!
Did get some wonderful new seed to trial via Johno as a suprise the other day and the Khazak apple seed arrived today from Grin, plus our member nuts sent me a copy of the Kokopelli publication that Michael wrote the article for and some walnuts.

I was looking through the '09 seed that Agway had left. There was hardly any veggies at all. Everything sold out pretty quickly last yr. The rough economy does encourage more people to attempt to grow their own veggies.
