Just so. It's the Golden Rule: who's got the gold, makes the rule.
The deal is: get your agribusiness farm, poultry-factory; pig-factory; whatever; computerize it so you can run it from an air-conditioned office 1000+ miles away; set your feed-stock needs to the commodity market, so you can shave micro-cents off your costs (no small consideration, when you're dealing in multi-tonnage of protein, lipids, and "nuggets" to fast-food chains and processed-fooderies); don't skimp on expenditures for legislation/legislators to control "weeds" (independent farmers/ranchers not yet under your thumb) that might threaten your monoculture.
I suppose I sound irate or passionate, but when I was a zoology major (an "obsolete" science, I'm told; not focused enough; well, there I am!), all I thought was "That's so wonderful!"; it never occurred to me that I was going to see the Sixth Great Extinction or that it was going to be our own damned fault; climate-change-deniers please eat my shorts, you ignorant bastards!
DOWNSIZE and DIVERSIFY! That's worked for our Great Mother Earth for billions of years; that can work for us. She wants us to succeed, and all our cousins, her children, no less than ourselves. We need to stop fucking things up for profit or politics. It's our life-support system we're screwing with. If I have a choice of being killed by your actions or killing you, which do you suppose I'll choose? Just curious; ya know? Purely an intellectual exercise, and we know intellectuals just talk, talk, talk.
