Hi...
We have just built a mobile grazer for our 50 broiler chickens. It has a frame construction and is completely covered with chicken wire. Already a predator has been able to break in through the chicken wire. Can anyone suggest a solution? We are now considering electric mesh to surround the perimeter of the grazer, which will ultimately make it considerably less portable.
Thanks!

Sorry to hear about the predator attack... did you lose many chickens? All my research shows that chicken wire keeps chickens in, but predators can chew right through, including dogs and raccoons. I built my current run using 2x4 horse fencing. It could let a weasel in, I suppose, though. Also, it isn't a moveable run, it's attached to a sturdy coop. What about hardware cloth? It isn't really cloth, it's mesh made of metal. I know it comes in a welded stainless steel version, and I think the holes are more like 1/2 inch diameter.

also, vg, you might google 'Chicken Tractors'. there's a lot of info on them and people give great tips with their plans and personal experiences.
