Hey Alan, there is one at the fair this week, people in French Lick have calves for sale. If you have to deliver to the co-op this week you might want to stop by and have a look. If Kim didn't fall for the pigs, she just might fall for these little guys. Half the size of most cattle, and friendly. Don't know the prices, owners weren't there when I was, but I may be able to catch them tonight. Adorable. I just don't know how I would feel about it when it came time to butcher. Pigs are pretty darn easy. Chickens, no problem. But those pretty brown eyes, I just don't know about....

I've looked at some dwarf cows before for sale, they were about $1500 a head. Too rich for my blood!

Thanks for the heads up Karen, unforunately I didn't have a chance to make it over there, maybe they will have some this week at Washington County though.
I did get Kim talked into the hogs though, but it needs to be a smaller breed, that way if I am sick or for some reason can't take care of them Kim or my Father (two bad ankles and two bad knees) can take care of them.
Kim keeps trying to talk me into cows but I've been resistant thus far!

You better hope that there aren't any Dexter's at the Washington county fair then! If she sees one of those, it will be a done deal. The steer weighed 277 whopping pounds. And, since you are going to try raising plants in cow poo, why not eliminate the poo middleman?

LOL, I'll keep that in mind and stay away from the fair. Actually I'll probably go tomarrow during the day just to check out the animals. I'll let you know if they have any.
