Has anyone tried a vent free heater (Procom Propane Blue Flame Heater or simular)? These run 99% efficient...no pouring heat out the vent tube. They seem to burn very clean. I was aound a couple of these a few years ago (in a home) and they had no smell. What about in a greenhouse situation? Thoughts?

We have a wood burning boiler. Right now it heats the farmhouse (which we rent out) and our farm office (both areas are heated off the same water line). I have often thought of simply running a second line to a greenhouse and rig a simple system to heat the structure and use the same water to run pex tubing under soil beds.
With the computer controlled damper and the design of the fire box, the boiler is pretty darn efficient....and very inexpensive to run (assuming you have your own source for wood fuel).
I know its not the propane style system, but the heat loss you are talking about would not be happening at the greenhouse.

I have a friend that heats two large greenhouses with a boiler. This works very well. Luckely he has an unlimited supply of free firewood. I have thought about going this route myself but I would have to buy my wood since all my land is cleared. I am still looking at one of the vent free gas furnaces for a small greenhouse (600 square feet).

I wasn't too sure if you had the resources to take advantage of that or not so I threw it out as suggestion. Have you come closer to making a decision?
