I concur with Grungy. We lost one of our hives over the winter. Last year it was the "docile" hive. The surviving hive was the hive where we had to replace the queen in the spring because the bees were very aggressive. I've never heard of "Russian" queens. Can you recommend a research article or two? I see you are here in the Piedmont, may I ask if you are more north or south?

Well, our bee "event" is over and they didn't swarm... We haven't been out towards Charlotte yet. I'd like to go that way, when we have... time?!?!?!

We would be happy to! Maybe we can work it out over the summer if the gas prices allow us to commence an exploratory excursion. What's the camping scene like in your neck of the woods? We like to use our tent whenever we get the chance!
