Had Lasik sugery on my and my wifes eyes. We had a good deal through her medical at work. Can make payments. I was able to see to drive home. She was heavy user of contacts for years. Me I couldn't put in eye drops, much less get used to contacts. It happened the 19 of last month. We had it done the same afternoon. Recovery is kinda weird but by now both are doing great. I would recomend it to anyone that can get it. We got to sleep in these shields over our eyes for for or five weeks. That is about the only bad part.

I've heard almost all good things about this surgery. Sounds like it really did the trick for you guys. Did either of you have an astigmatism? I have one in my right eye, and have to wear a different kind of contact for that one (toric). When I went to the eye doctor last year, he found a freckle inside one of my eyes, too. (Apparently from so many years outside, squinting into the sun). That info kept me up for about 3 nights - the idea that you can get freckles INSIDE your body was so weird. I started thinking that maybe I had a freckled liver, or freckled kidneys! (Yeah, I have really strange trains of thought at 3:AM, for sure! It's a trait with most insomniacs, I think...) I just had always assumed that you needed the melanine from your skin cells to have freckles...

Yes we both had astigmatisiums in one eye. The adjust the lazer to fix this. I didn't know that about freckles. Thats cool. I still catch myself looking for my glasses, when I realize I don't have them on. My wife will catch herself pushing on air, trying to push her glasses up the bridge of her nose.

My hubby is nearly blind w/o his glasses. I'd love for him to get lasiks but he thinks it won't work because of his astigmatism. Thanks for dispelling that myth. I'm going to get him into the eyedoctor soon!
LG, I have freckles everywhere. I wouldn't be suprised if my eyes had some, too.

The level of astigmatism DOES have a bearing on whether you can have the Lasik sugery. I just got new glasses last week. I asked the Optometrist about mine. I have a "-9", I'm not sure exactly what that means. Some type of measument. Anyways, Lasik is only able to do up to "-6". Lasik slices the front off the cornea to create a flap, then the corneal tissue underneath is reshaped, the flap put back over this "reshaped" cornea takes on the shape. There is another surgery LPK, something with three letters, that does up to "-8". It doesn't use the flap, just the whole cornea is used to reshape. Since there is no flap, there is more tissue to work with, thus the extra "3-whatevers" to use for shaping. BTW: Did I mention I'm in college for nursing? ) Patrck
