I know that this is a bit late but that horrible, bad on my sinus, season is just starting for me and I hate to have to take antibiotics as I am becoming immune to some of them. I hope that this will help someone else this year.
I don't care for the neti pot myself but it does work- but I have bought a saline solution that sprays up your nose at the pharmacy and it is much easier to use. Just use it before your shower in the morning( it is a fine mist and I give each side a couple of good squirts) and then let it sit as long as possible while showering and then blow out all the green meanies- also I bought eucalyptus oil and peppermint oil at the local health food store and put just a drop or two of each on the side of the shower stall floor while the hot water is going- it slowly seeps into the hot water and will steam up and help unclog those sinuses while you shower (it is better and cheaper than the vicks tablets that they sell that are the same thing for the shower).
And when that doesn't work I go to my pharmacy and buy the good Musinex D tablets that Jim suggested- it works so much better when you get the 12 hour tabs than having to remember to take the 4 hour ones on time- I can only handle one in the morning and one at night, or they make me too skittery. My Dr. told me that as long as I can keep every thing running and getting it out of my sinuses it should clear up by themselves without using the antibiotics, and it does work, but you have to keep right on it!
