Have not heard much about Rebsie's tomatoes this season, especially the O.S.U. Blues, Green Tiger etc,-hoping for a recent update on the current state of play.

michael, i'm not sure if you mean the tomatoes she's growing or the tomatoes we're growing that she gave us?!;D
the Douce de Picardie (ind. large white/pale yellow tom) seed she gave us has produced three medium sized plants. they've had green tomatoes on them for about 3 weeks now, just getting a bit larger each week...
i do want to try the Blue tomato next year...

No-Actually, I meant the tomatoes that she is growing herself, Don't worry Bunkie- I shall be able to send you plenty of the Blues for next year. Actually- growing the O.S.U. Blue is becoming a bit of an art form, as well as a bit of a cult following, it is quite a difficult tomato to grow and ripen well, and needs at least one seasons practice to get to know the plant first, then it becomes easier..

Mind sharing its quirks with us? I just sowed some OSU Blue seeds yesterday -- maybe a tad early, but given how out-of-whack the weather's been, it's as good a time as any. I don't really have enough seed to mess about for too long, so any tips/traps/odd observations would be most welcomed!

Well, I can update you on mine! My OSU tomato is not as big as the other tomato plants and is producing a modest amount of fruit which is not ripe yet. They are being grown with clear plastic mulch on my allotment surrounded by weeds (so no one notices them...).

The O.S.U. Blues can reach six or seven foot tall plants, mine did last year, this year they only seem to be about four or five foot tall ??, but plenty of fruit on them- the blues are always a bit late ripening.
