I went out in the woods today (Feb. 4'th and it was like 67 degrees!) to give the ginseng seed I planted last fall a once over. I was somewhat concerned because when I planted it last fall we were still under drought conditions and after planting it didn't rain for three weeks, when I did a float test for viability late last fall all 100 of my sample sank, always a good sighn. Anyhow, I went out today and took a quick look at the beds and the seeds and they are all starting to crack open which is a good thing! It means the seed is viable and will emerge this spring, just in time for Mushroom hunting season! I'm a happy man now that I know the $300 I threw out on the forrest floor is no longer wasted! LOL
