Does anyone have a decent hand crank grain mill that they would like to get rid of for a decent price.......I would buy it or send tons of seed for you to play with, or both if you want.........
I would like to have one to make my own corn flour to feed my worms....
I know, strange.

I didn't think it was strange until you said it was to feed your worms.

Thanks for the reply Grunt, I will definetly be ordering one of those for use next year. Growing my own corn to feed the worms will definetly save me some money.

How many acres of corn does one have to plant to feed worms??? I guess it would depend on how many worms we are speaking of...... It just struck me as funny, sorry Alan. I think in terms of acreage per hog or horse, etc....This vermiculture thing is interesting. I just haven't quite grasped the concept of feeding them yet...

It won't take much of an area to feed them with I don't believe, probably 12 decent sized rows of corn, I plant to grow and process Peruvian Morado (traditionally used to make an alcoholic drink called Chicha Morado) dent which has a much higher protein content than modern yellow or white corns do and should do an excellent job providing them with what they need, I'll take some notes and see where I need to add or subtract corn for '09.
I agree the vermiculture thing is interesting, there is always something new to learn about it every day. I've been harvesting castings all week and plan do be doing so for probably the next two weeks anyhow, then I'll replace the bedding, feed and water them and maintain them untill March or April when I'll do a large harvest once again, I should have a really good amount of castings come planting time and that is what I am counting on.

ALAN, Have you considered an electric coffee mill?? I use one to grind my spices, and I can make them as course or as fine as I like. FWIW.
