Do herbs and flowers take a bit longer to germinate than other seeds, ie lettuce? My herb beds are the only thing that haven't cropped up, other than marigolds and a few other flowers. I planted chives, parsley, wormwood, thyme, sage, etc and nothing's up after well over a week.

I have found alot of herbs take longer than expected. Just keep watering. Wormwood is a bad one. It will take the seeds you plant this year. All summer or maybe even next spring.. No kidding. I through out four flats of "bad seeds". The next spring I had little wormwoods all over the compost pile. I had started another pile that was easier to deal with. That pile was never disturbed or turned. And hundreds of wormwoods sprouted all over it. I now have that compost pile especially for that. I put unsprouted seeds and dirt out there on it. And during the summer and spring I get to harvest seedlings of one sort or another. Sometimes the guessing is wait until they are bigger. To see what they are.
